Sorry I've been absento. I've been sick for about 6 weeks now; first, it was a cold with a cough that lingered, then Max brought home some horrible viral thingee from school and, after I coaxed him through it, I got it. Finally, this week because the weather has been so incredibly gorgeous the flowers bloomed, the trees budded, and my allergies kicked in. So I had a cough, stuffed sinuses, and runny nose/eyes all together. And Thursday night I ran a temp.
I am now, after weeks of putting it off as unnecessary, on antibiotics. And histafed for the allergy crap. It makes me groggy, but I figure Max is old enough to fend for himself, and the dogs will keep intruders out.
Kidding. Sort of. It's a toss up as to whether I'm more use to Max conked out or blind from uncontrolled allergy tearing. I'm happier unconscious.
My wonderful sister took pity on my and took Max for a sleepover (his first) with his cousins. So last night for the first time in 3.5 years I had the night off! I still had puppies to let out this morning, but there was no child demanding breakfast and a show (now!) and asking when I was going to get up and why I wasn't up yet, didn't I hear that he was hungry and needing breakfast?!?
It was heaven, HEAVEN I TELL YOU, just to crawl back into bed in the deafening silence. I was happy to be deafened. Bliss.
V. said Max was wonderful on his sleepover, that he had lots of fun, was helpful picking up toys, giggled with A2 while they were supposed to be sleeping, and missed me a bit, but not too much. She and he made up a song about missing Mommy and sang it together if he was feeling homesick. It went swimmingly. There you go. My boy's growing up.
I'm going to bed soon in the hopes that even more rest will coax my body back into good health. For the last two weeks at least, I've felt like I'd been beaten up during the night every time I got out of bed. Achy. Sore. Tired.
I do not know how people a hundred years ago survived cold season, much less measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox, polio, cholera, dysentery, plague.
Hopefully I will soon be able to blog about more interesting things than having a bad cold.
