Went to confession today at Holy Childhood up here in Harbor Springs. It had been since Easter. I'm glad it's over. I think confession is a wonderful thing, great for the soul, great for the conscience, but frankly it kind of freaks me out. I always wonder if I'm confessing EVERYTHING or if there's something I'm leaving out. I think I got it all, though - this time.
I've been praying the Rosary every day or every other day. Since the weather is now so crappy and J. doesn't walk with me, I've got quiet space to fill and the Rosary does nicely. I've also got a prayer list going that I insert into each decade as it fits (specific requests and general prayers for personal improvement - i.e., more patience, more wisdom, graciousness, forgiveness, etc.). Anyway, it gets my mind off how much I hate trudging through the snow and helps me to focus on God and my blessings. Which is good.
I've also been reading Jewish Literacy: the most important things to know about the Jewish religion, its people, and its history by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin. It's really interesting. I'm learning a lot and finding Telushkin's reflections on the Old Testament to be thought-provoking.
