Six Unimportant Facts About Me
The rules are:
Thing the 1st: When I was a little girl, I wanted to change my name to Veronica. I thought it had a lot more panache than Rachel. "Veronica," I would say over and over. As an adult, long after I learned the story of St. Veronica, I read that this name was actually created to describe the woman who would become known as the one who wiped Jesus's face on the way to Golgotha and came away with a replica of his face imposed on her cloth. Vero = true and icon = image.
Thing the 2nd: I spend an average of 2 hours outdoors everyday, regardless of the weather. Mostly I'm walking, but I'm also shoveling, gardening, working outside, or in better weather, relaxing. I just to be much more housebound and sedentary; now I can't imagine not exercising and being in the elements.
Thing the 3rd: We don't have TV in our house. We have a TV, but it's not hooked up even to an antenna. Everything we watch we either own or get from the library.
Thing the 4th: My beauty regimen consists of putting lotion on when my skin gets dry. That's about it. Generic lotion, whatever is at hand.
Thing the 5th: I have a natural abhorrence of waste. I really hate it. It's why I compost and recycle and try to buy used or without packaging. Part of this is simply innate, part is the result of living in Russia and seeing how unnaturally packaged everything is here compared to there and how much perfectly good stuff gets thrown away. Stuff other people will never have.
Thing the 6th: I have no fear of germs. This is rather funny given my OCD. You'd think I'd be confined to my house wearing plastic gloves and spraying doorknobs with Lysol. But actually I'm probably the least germ-phobic person I know.
That's my six. A bonus one is that I have no compulsion about breaking anything resembling chain mail. Rather than completely ignoring Rule #4 above, I'll simply tag AAR After Hours. There are at least six people there.
