1. Max has been in a bossy, screamy, demanding, uncooperative mood for about a week and a half now, and I am heartily sick of it. Even J. is asking how I put up with this 24/7 without going insane. I hope this is a phase and we are on the tail end of it. For my sanity.
2. Reports of Corny's death have been greatly exaggerated. I found him the other night (or rather Rosie did) eating fallen berries from a neighbor's tree and again tonight in the compost bucket. I actually shed a few tears when I saw him alive and whole. I was so relieved he was okay.
3. J. has finished installing all 6 windows and has painted and caulked the sills. I'm very proud of him. The windows themselves now need to be cleaned inside and out but otherwise look very nice. I'm done with home improvement for awhile, though. The resulting chaos makes me edgy and nervous. So it's a good thing we are also out of home improvement funds for awhile, huh?
4. We had our last homestudy meeting - the home visit - and we passed. This is not a real surprise; we already had a formal homestudy before. But it's a relief for that to be over and now I can slack off slightly on the housekeeping, I suppose. I always feel I have to have everything just so when we have visitors and even more just so when we have a visitor who is a social worker evaluating us. Now all we have to do is clear some paperwork including our medical reports. We had to be HIV tested and tested for TB as well. We did that at the health department Monday, and now we just have to get our results and bring them to our doctors. Max has to be cleared as well. And then we have to do our profile which is like a huge resume for parenthood complete with family photos, etc. I told our social worker we probably wouldn't be ready to go with that until the first of the year. I want to get through the holidays first. He, overworked as he is, looked visibly relieved that we weren't in an all fire hurry to proceed. What can I say? Babies are a lot of work. I'm okay with a more leisurely pace for this adoption. And I have to get Max potty trained before we start another one in diapers.
I think that's it. No, wait, one thing more - I finished the quilting part of my rainbow quilt. Now I just have to bead it and do the edge work and this eight-year project will be complete. I'm making progress!
