Milestone Day

posted Wednesday, 12 September 2007

Today J. and I hit a major financial milestone.  We've been working toward this for a long time, almost 9 years - saving, scrimping, making double payments, throwing any tax refund money towards it.  I don't want to come right out and say it, for fear the bad luck gods will throw cancer, job loss, or natural disaster our way for enjoying this achievement (yes, I am superstitious), but it involves:

  • our house
  • a large payment and
  • one less creditor in our lives.
Yay for today!  Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home...

I'd never made a wire transfer before.  I also didn't realize it costs so much to not owe money.  Just to get the payoff amount cost $30 and the wire transfer cost $15.  Those banks, they always have the upper hand, don't they?  But not anymore.  HA!

What are you talking about? No j/k. Congrats. You should be proud. Now go out and celebrate and don't worry about the "bad luck gods" coming to get you.

Congratulations! That is so exciting -- you must feel so FREE.
