Right now they are two:
Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown
He really likes this one A LOT. When I get to the end of the story, he kind of flaps his hands and makes a whimpering noise, letting me know that he wants to hear it again. When I get to the page with the "big cow and the very little cow" he groans along with the "moo" text. It's very cute.
I Am a Bunny by Ole Risom (illustrated by Richard Scarry)
My copy is one I weeded years ago from the Berkley Public Library, but it's still in readable condition. This is the story of Nicholas Bunny and how he spends the four seasons. Lucky Nicholas, he gets to hibernate away the winter. (Do rabbits hibernate? I see a lot of them around still in the winter.)
Max also likes
Goodnight, Moon and some lift the flap books we have, and he loves the
Lullaby and Goodnight teddy book he got as a baby gift. It's a fabric book and has parts that he loves to pull out. He esp. likes the milk container because when he holds it up to my mouth, I make smacking noises like I'm drinking from it.
We also go to the library at least once a week to pick out a new selection of board books. This week it's
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle,
Max's New Suit by Rosemary Wells, and one other book on opposites. I picked up some books on housekeeping and cooking (gack). I'm starting to get ambitious with the housecleaning - I'm picking one room at a time and deep cleaning it. I've started with the kitchen. Today I cleaned the fridge out top to bottom. It took the whole morning because Max "helped."
BTW, Max's baptism is scheduled for February 6. Last week we went to the "baptism class." It was clear that we knew a heck of a lot more about the sacraments and the Bible than most people do. You could tell by the astonished look on the face of the sacraments director. H. will be Godfather and V. will be Godmother. I also scheduled our first post-placement homestudy for early February. I guess Russia is getting really picky about these coming in on time, so I have to get it in two months before it's supposed to be there. Honestly, I could give a crap about the Russian government in this, but I feel a responsibility for the parents who now are trying to adopt. If we don't get our reports in on time, their adoptions could be jeopardized. :(
We got 5 inches of snow last night, but fortunately the temperature went up a little. It's a heck of a lot easier to walk in 30 degrees than it is to walk in 3 degrees (with minus windchill). I still do it, but when it's bitter cold like that, I have to MAKE myself.
