More from Max's bookshelf:
Speaking of security objects , I bought my son Max Louie's Goose by H.M. Ehrlich for his birthday. This is the story of Louie and his little red goose, Rosie, whom he takes everywhere. It is summertime, and Louie has brought Rosie with him to the cottage and they do all sorts of things together. Rosie starts to fall apart, but Mommy and Daddy help to shore her up with thread and patches. Then one day Louie leaves Rosie behind on the shore while he builds a little sand castle, and Rosie gets washed away and returns all soggy and sandy. And Louie has to figure out how to make her better.
This is a cute little book with nice illustrations (by Emily Bolam). The reading level is pretty basic, with only a sentence or two on each page - more or less a step up from a board book. So far it's been a big hit with Max who can really relate to another kid with a special animal friend. Right away when Rosie starts to fall apart, he gets concerned, and when we get to the page where the waves take her away, he wants to know right then that this is going to end well and Rosie is going to be okay. I've already read it to him a bunch of times; he's very taken with this book. Two thumbs up from Max, age 3.
