Horton Hatches the Egg
posted Wednesday, 29 September 2004
This morning we did an "Egg" storytime, and I read Horton Hatches the Egg, one of my favorite stories (Plus Ollie by Olivier Dunrea and The Most Wonderful Egg in the World by Helme Heine). As I was approaching the part where Maysie the bird demands her egg and it hatches and looks like Horton, I was pretty close to crying. I thought I really might lose it in front of all my preschoolers. This is such a lovely adoption story, and I'm always touched when I read it, but today it really resonated with me. I'm still feeling choked up. I'm not sure how I'm going to read it again for my session tomorrow!
Anyway, on the adoption front, both our documents were successfully apostilled and are on their way to our agency. I think that's the last of it (knock wood). Now I've just got another million details to take care of, but not for our court date. Occasionally I have to stop and think about what a strange and complicated way this is to go about making a family.
I've been thinking about Max a lot. I hope the people over there are giving him love and attention. It's now less than 4 weeks until our court date. I hope the time passes quickly and I'm not a basket case by the end of it. Oh, I hope everything goes okay!
