Good girl!?!

I helped a man find a book on bats (he wanted to get them out of his house) this morning, and when I handed him the book, he said, "Good girl!"

Do you think this would be a case of justifiable homicide? "Good girl!" is condescending at just about any age (at least past 10), but I'm 32! Married! A home owner! Advanced degreed! Gainfully employed! How do I get out of the girl designation???

I've had several kids and parents ask me lately if I have kids of my own. I know I shouldn't be so sensitive about this, but those kinds of comments sting a bit. What do I say, "No, I don't, but I really, really, really want to." ?

5 hours and 15 minutes until vacation. Not that I'm counting or anything. :)
