According to grandrapidsgasprices.com , the price of gas in our area has dropped to $1.87/gallon!
It's almost surreal to see that 1 at the beginning of the price; here in Michigan we've seen 3 a lot more often than 1 in the past couple of years. I remember thinking, when gas was making its way up, what a shock it was to pay over $2/gallon. It was an outrage, that's what it was! I'd boycott. I'd go nowhere. When I was working in Greenville and driving 35 miles twice a day to work, most of the time gas was about $1.50/gallon. I'd fill up my Saturn for $15.00 and that would last me an entire week, including weekend driving. Not too bad. It made the commute feasible, financially. Then gas started to creep up right around the time we were adopting Max. I kept thinking that I'd have to get another job closer to home if things fell through on that front. It seemed like the skyrocketing had no ceiling, and the idea of a fixed cost growing without you're having any control or alternative - well, that's scary. I feel that way now about our natural gas costs which have been rising parallel with gasoline. That and our health insurance. It's strange to think just ten years ago these all were costs that were more or less stable and very affordable. I remember gas being under a dollar in 1995.
