Rachel Gibson |
| Genre | Romance |
| Recurring Story Elements | Hockey players, writer heroines, pets, Idaho/Washington settings, friend circles formed through work, many HOT love scenes, but largely pedestrian sex with little/no kink, expensive product name dropping, social drinking. |
| Heroines are: | Self-supporting career women, sexually experienced, smart-mouthed, cynical, independent, fairly isolated, transitory, and generally without supportive family ties. |
| Heroes are: | Alpha or uber-alpha, hockey players, rakes, excessive with women, cocky, frequently tattooed, working class or employed by special skill, financially self-made, transitory, capable of appalling behavior towards women they are sexually involved with but do not love (view sex as a recreational activity, NOT a commitment requiring responsibility). |
| Gibson's world is: | Neither exceptionally good or evil: people mainly concerned with own problems, neither altruistic or deliberately mean. Tangible foci take precedence over religious/political/societal interests. Strong opinions largely absent. Social upheavals of 60's, 70's (divorce, promiscuity) have taken their toll on her h/h's - few have stable childhoods or responsible, present parents. |
| Themes: | Gibson's writing is pretty straightforward, without sub-text, but certain ideas repeat: needy, clingy, insecure women don't get/keep hot guys, and family (of origin) is frequently more of a responsibility than a source of joy or satisfaction. |
| Gibson likes: | Hockey, boating, girly pampering or splurging, expensive apparel and accessories. |
| Gibson dislikes: | Religious types, predatory women, insular conservatives, especially gun nuts and homophobes. |

Have never read any of her books but would like to start. I am interested
in the Hockey Series books. How many of them are they and what are the
titles? Also would like to know if they should be read in any particular
order
Hi, Linda. The hockey books are only loosely connected so you can read
them in any order. Simply Irresistible was first, then See Jane Score, I
think. I've sort of lost track. As I said, they are only loosely
connected. Hope you enjoy them.
